First before reading.
In the name of Yahushua
Our
Messiyah,
I
pray for the Spirit of Understanding
The
Spirit of Knowledge and
The
Spirit of Wisdom
As I read through this Parsha
This Torah Port ion begins with the Word “Vayek’hel,” and Moses gath ered. Moses often gath ered the Yisraelites together during their wilderness
experience, but the word used to describe this particular gath ering
ind icate that
something special was taking place.
During the forty-nine days between leaving Egypt “Pesach,
Passover” and receiving the Torah at Mt. S i n a i
“Shavuot, Pentecost,” the Children of
Yisrael made tremendous stride to strengthen their ability to receied the Light
of the Torah. They awakened love and unity among themselves. This desire for
unity was the catalyst for “bila hamavet
lanetzach,” the gift of immortality that was given to them before the
golden calf incident.
Without the Ten Luminous Emanation “commandments” it is impossible for us to connect to the Ultimate
level of “bila hamavet lanetzach” the
end of suffering in the world. We must be one with every living things, but
with the inanimate world as well, for unity is the true revelation at Mt. S i n a i .
As one river flowed from the Garden of E d e n,
it divides into four smaller rivers, the place where the river divide is the
negative spot on the river. There are
only two side forces in this wolrd: unity and separation.
Ultimate unity is “bila
hamavet lamavet,” or immortality, ultimate separation is death. When Moses gath ered the Children of
Yisrael in the Wilderness, he awakened and strengthened their connection with
the CREATOR and themselves. The gift of Shabbat
Va yek’hel is such an awakening.
The Shabbat of Vayek’hel also help to bring us the clarity
to realize that just because we help another person doesn’t mean we are unified
with that ind ividual.
When have to be careful not to del ude
ourselves into thinking that just because we do good things for others, we are
awaken love between us and them.
We need to acknowledge the very real difference, and its
importance, for to the degree that we are separate from other belivers, we are
separated from the Creator.
The only way we can receive the awesome gift of unity on
this Shabbat of Vayak’hel is to work at it and to keep our eyes constantly on
the ulfimate destination. Am I more open to the need of other today than I was
yesterday. Do I have more compassion for them this week than last week? Do I
have more long-suffering this month than I did last mont h? Such question keep us focused on our
ultimate destination.
Unity is Mashiach. Seperation is Lucifer. The power of
unity is the greatest gift Moses and this Torah Port ion
is willing to give us on the Shabbat of Vayak’hel, one we make the necessary
preparations.
In this
Torah Portion Moses address the entire nation and charge or encourage them with
the privelage of building the Tabernacle, both Corporate and individual
according to the instructions given in the above chapters.
Much of
the following chapters in this Torah Portion is a repetition of the directives
of Parsha: Terumah, Tetzaveh, and apart of Ki Sisa, which have been explained
previously.
In this
Portion I will discuss only new
material. It is indicative of the greater significance of the Tabernacle that
most of the last three Torah Portions and almost all of Vayakhel and Pekudei
are devoted to it.
This
Portion discribe the ability for the Hebrew people to create a setting for EL
YAHVEH יהוה
presence to manifested
it’s self here on Earth. It is a mesure of His greatness and, indeed, the
Primary reason for the Creation of the world.
Its
future history would revolve around its worthiness to have the Temple in its midst. When
Yisrael was unfaithful to its trust, YAH’S PRESENCE would depart from the Temple , leaving it an
empty shell, much like when we sin the Holy Spirit will depart from us
devoiding us of all inner holiness.
Once
that happened, destruction and national exile came quickly. The challenge of
the exile is for Yisrael to return to its former estate, and thereby bring
about the era of Messiyah, which they have miss.
The
Torah’s frequent repetition of the parts of the Tabernacle and mention of the
nations role in its construction indicates EL YAHVEH’S Love for His people
Yisrael, and His desire for us to enter into His fulness.
Similarly,
YAH’S respect for such loyalty is indicated by the attention the Torah lavishes
on Eliezer’s dilligent search for a wife for Isaac, Genesis 24:42.
Exo 35:1 And Mosheh assembled all the congregation of
the children of Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, “These are the Things which יהוה has commanded you to do: - Moses ascended from the Mountain with the second Tablets, signifying EL
YAHVEH’S willingness to forgive and renewal. The Bride-to-be had confess her
unfaithfulness, and once again made herself clean, now they were worthy to
continue developing a relitionship that would lead to consomation, if
faithfulness is established.
Moses convey his message to an
assembly of the entire nations, because everyone would have to share in the
construction, corporatively and individually. There are categories of labor that were needed to build
the Tabernacle, that was forbidden on the Sabbath.
Exo 35:2 “Work is done for six days, but on the seventh day it shall be set-apart to
you, a Sabbath of rest to יהוה . Anyone doing work on it is put
to death. – The Torah teaches us that the primary productive labors in the
material world are precisely those that are needed to create an abode for
sanctity.
This command pertaining to the
Tabernacle introduced yet another condition to be observed. This addition
stipulate that despite the spiritual importance of the Tabernacle, it must not
be done on the Sabbath.
It is a good thing to be
preparing food for one husband, yet if he ask you for a date, do not tell him I
am too busy cooking your lunch.
Exo 35:3 “Do not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.” – The kingling of a fire is labor intensive, it is forbidden on the
seventh day Sabbath, but it is allowed on other Feast days. Some may say that
it is forbidden to prepared food on the Sabbath, but, to to light a fire to
keep warm and comfortable on the Sabbath is acceptable.
Anothervery imortant point to
be derive from this command, is the fire of indignation. Do not cause anything
that will get someone angry on the Sabbath. I notice that almost every Friday
afternoon, that my wife and I got into problem. I have to reminde her why do
you try to find some fault with what I do every Friday. When she caught her
self doing it she stop. The same action on any other day, would not be a
problem for her.
Exo 35:4 And Mosheh spoke to all
the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “This is the word which יהוה commanded, saying, - These are the requirements
of the Bridegroom Father.
Exo 35:5 ‘Take from among you a contribution to יהוה . Everyone
whose heart so moves him, let him bring it as a contribution to יהוה :
gold, and silver, and bronze, - As a part of her
spiritual development, she must make a
free will contribution. A contribution of gold, silver and bronze.
This verse stress on the
motivation of the donor indicates that the primary requirement in not the
monetary value of the gift, but the Bride-to-be sincere desire to elevate
herself and to get to the stage were she can unite with the Groom.
The article that she is
require to bring, may be shown in the natural, however they carry a spiritual
parellel.
Exo 35:6 and blue, and purple, and scarlet material,
and fine linen, and goats’ hair,
- As discribe before: Blue represent Heavenly
character; Purple royalty, Scarlet the sacrifical Blood, fione linen
righteousness, goat hair the covering of the Lamb.
Exo 35:7 and ram skins dyed red, and fine leather, and acacia wood, - These object were discussed
previously. That ABBA YAHVEH has not made our yoke heavy. He is
a prince that does not burden hHS subjects with taxes, nor make them to serve with an offering,
but draws with the cords of a man,
and leaves it to ourselves to judge
what is right; HIS is a government that there is no cause to complain
of, for HE does not rule with rigour.
That ABBA YAHVEH loves a
cheerful giver, and is best pleased with the free-will offering. Those services
are acceptable to HIM that come from the willing heart of a willing people, Ps.
110:3.
Exo 35:8 and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet
incense, -
Exo 35:9 and shoham stones, and stones to be set in the shoulder garment and in the
breastplate. –
Exo 35:10 ‘And let all the wise-hearted among you come and make all that יהוה has commanded: - All that were skilful must work: Every wise-hearted among you shall come, and
make. See how YAHVEH dispenses his gifts variously; and, as every man hath received the gift, so he
must minister, 1 Pt. 4:10. Those that were rich must bring in materials
to work on; those that were ingenious must serve the tabernacle with their
ingenuity; as they needed one another, so the tabernacle needed them both, 1 Co. 12:7–21.
Exo 35:11 the Dwelling Place ,
its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its columns, and
its sockets, - All that were skilful must work: Every
wise-hearted among you shall come, and make. See how YAHVEH dispenses his
gifts variously; and, as every man hath received the gift, so he must
minister, 1 Pt. 4:10. Those that were rich must bring in materials to work
on; those that were ingenious must serve the tabernacle with their ingenuity;
as they needed one another, so the tabernacle needed them both, 1 Co. 12:7–21.
Exo 35:12 the ark and its poles, the lid of
atonement and the veil of the covering, -
Exo 35:13 the table and its poles, and all its
utensils, and the showbread, - Moses,
as he had told them what must be given verse 5 – 9, so HE gives them the
general heads of what must be made, that, seeing how much work was before them,
they might apply themselves to it the more vigorously, and every hand might be
busy in building the Kingdom; and it gave them such an idea of the fabric
designed that they could not but long to see it finished.
Exo 35:14 and the Menorah for the light, and its utensils, and its lamps, and the oil
for the light, - This verse like
the previous verses in this chapter describe the giving of the material to
build the physical Menorah, the same principle still apply in the building of
the individual spiritual Menorah. It must be a group effort in establishing the
Menorah with its seven Spirits and all that associates with it. The Menorah
need oil for the lamps, it need the utensils to support it, to keep the light
burning at all times.
Exo 35:15 and the incense altar, and its poles,
and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the covering for the door at
the entrance of the Dwelling Place, - The
work was likely to go on when some helped with their purses, others with their
hands, and both with a willing heart. Moses, as he had told them what must be
given, so he gives them the general heads of what must be made, that, seeing
how much work was before them, they might apply themselves to it the more
vigorously, and every hand might be busy; and it gave them such an idea of the
fabric designed that they could not but long to see it finished.
Exo 35:16 the altar of burnt offering with its
bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils, the basin and its stand, - The Brazen altar where the Evangelist apply their trade,
where justification is apply. Everyone is require to support this ministry,
that the Evangelist may have enough resources to go out into the unsaved world
and bring lost souls to this Altar.
Exo 35:17 the screens of the courtyard, its columns, and their sockets, and the
covering for the gate of the courtyard, - There was a clear
distinction made on the first day of Creation to separate light from darkness.
The screens describe in this verse marks the separation of the Holy from the
mundane. In order for anyone to enter into the tabernacle they must enter
through the gate which is Messiyah Yahushua. Anyone who come over the screens
we know is a false shepherd, who come to steel, kill and destroy.
Exo 35:18 the pegs of the Dwelling Place, and the pegs of the courtyard, and their
cords, -
Exo 35:19 the woven garments to do service in the set-apart place, the set-apart
garments for Aharon the priest and the garments of his sons to serve as
priests. – Our garment in the set apart holy place is the righteousness of
Messiyah, this righteousness must be carefully wven into our character, before
we can do service in the holy place. It is not for novice, those who have just
experience the Brazen altar a few day ago, it is for a person who have
experience atleast 4 days of creation, and have atleast three of the light on
their Menorah lit.
Exo 35:20 And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl withdrew from the
presence of Mosheh. – The people went to do that which was required of them. One of the
rare moments in Yisrael history when the people actually did what they were
told. Did the radiated face of Moses had anything to do with it?
Exo 35:21 And everyone whose heart lifted him up and everyone whose spirit moved him
came, and they brought the contribution to יהוה for the work of the Tent of Meeting, and for
all its service, and for the set-apart garments. – The term “whose heart inspired him, or upliftef him.’ This term
refers to those who came to do the work of
weaving, sewing, building, and so on.
Those who through skilled or
unskilled they were inspired and uplifted to volunteer for whatever had to be
done, confident that EL YAHVEH would help them to do His Will properly.
There was an even nobler
catogory of people, whose heart inspired them to do more than they could
afford, so great was their desire to share in the building of the Tabernacle.
This is my purpose in
ministry, that there will be a group of people who is set on building their
Tabernacle, Carrying their Cross to the end of the journey.
Exo 35:22 And they came, both men and women, all whose hearts moved them, and brought
earrings and nose rings, and rings and necklaces, all golden goods, even every
one who made a wave offering of gold to יהוה . – Even the women who were very
attached to their jewelry, were willing to give them up for spiritual
elevation. I wish that was so today. Ladies do not get me wrong, I am not
against women, but the susceptibility of women to certain things, and practices,
make them ideal candidate for deception.
Exo 35:23 and every man, with whom was found blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and rams’ skins dyed red, and
fine leather, brought them. – Every family donates, what they had for the manufacturing of the
Tabernacle. For a moment in time the people was of one mind, one purpose to
become the Bride-to-be.
Exo 35:24 Everyone who would make a contribution to יהוה of silver or bronze, brought it. And everyone
with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it. – The supplying of different material, is conducive to the different
level of ministry needed to minister to the people. Each piece of material
Moses require, was essential for building one aspect of the Tabernacle. It had
to be made perfect, there could be no flaw in any of it. Just as there can be
no flaw in the Bride-to-be on the day of the Wedding Feast of the Lamb.
Exo 35:25 And all the wise-hearted women spun yarn with their hands, and brought what
they had spun, the blue and the purple, the scarlet material, and the fine linen. – Even the women who were wise in heart had a vital role to play in
the construction (ministering) as we build our lives according to the pattern
given to Moses.
Exo 35:26 And all the women whose hearts lifted them up in wisdom spun the goats’ hair. – For some to say that women cannot be in ministry, this verse
shattered that mindset.
Exo 35:27 And the rulers brought shoham stones, and the stones to be set in the
shoulder garment and in the breastplate, - When the Children of Yisrael were about to leave Egypt, Moses ordered
them to ask for various items from the Egyptians, it was natural that everyone would
ask for things according to his taste and station in life. The leadership,
therefore, they would want precious stones, which would now contributed for the
needs of the tabernacle.
Exo 35:28 and the spices and the oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and
for the sweet incense. – Everthing need for the building of our spiritual tabernacle, will be
provided for, when the time is right.
Exo 35:29 The children of Yisra’ĕl brought a voluntary offering to יהוה ,
all the men and women whose hearts moved them to bring all kinds of work which יהוה ,
by the hand of Mosheh, had commanded to be done. - The mindset among the redemed community, is such that there was a
singleness in purpose. How I pray for this to manifest its self today.
Exo 35:30 And Mosheh said to the children of Yisra’ĕl, “See, יהוה has called by name Betsal’ĕl son of Uri, son
of Ḥur, of the tribe of Yehuḏah, - Moses call by name Betsalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah , someone
who prase the true and Living Elohim.
Exo 35:31 and He has filled him with the Spirit of Elohim, in wisdom, in
understanding, and in knowledge, and in all work, - Someone who had build their Menorah, he was not a novice. He knew
what to do.
Exo 35:32 to make designs, to work in gold and in silver and in bronze, - Every man, woman, and child
is a potential spoke in the wheal. If we do not allow our self to be developed,
some one else will take our place and we will be disgarded. It is therefore
incumbent on all of us to strive, while striving is possible, for there comes a
time when striving is not possible. Where a person die while striving, there
they will be for eternity.
The were appointed,
not only to devise, but to work, to
work all manner of work.
Exo 35:33 and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving wood, and to work in
all workmanship of design. – Every stone that is
place in a wall, every piece of wood that is place in a furniture had to past
through the hand of the master craftman. There are no exception.
Today men get into ministry because they know someone
important, they never experience the Might Hand of YAHVEH ministry. The next
verse will elucidate this principle.
Exo 35:34 “And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and Oholiaḇ son
of Aḥisamaḵ, of the tribe of Dan. – In the heart of Ohaliab was the “Isa 11:2
And the Sirit of YAHVEH shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and
understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of
the fear of YAHVEH; - The Spirit of Wisdom and understanding,
counsel and Authority are essential tools for teaching.”
They were not only
to devise and work themselves, but they were to teach others. Not only had
Bezaleel power to command, but he was to take pains to instruct. Those that
rule should teach; and those to whom YAHVEH had given knowledge should be
willing to communicate it for the benefit of others, not coveting to monopolize
it.
Exo 35:35 “He has filled them with skill to do
all work of the engraver and the designer and embroiderer, in blue and in
purple, in scarlet material,
and in fine linen, and a weaver, doing any work, and makers of designs. – The people in the kingdom
was to be infused with the character the different material represent. Those
who work with the different fabric and metals were to teach the people the
different characteristic traits
Chapter 36
In
this chapter,
I.
The work of the tabernacle is begun verse 1-4.
II.
A stop is put to the people’s contributions verse 5-7.
III.
A particular account is given of the making of the tabernacle itself; the fine
curtains of it verse 8–13.
The
coarse ones verse 14–19.
The
boards verse 20–30. The bars verse 31–34.
The
partition veil verse 35, 36.
And
the hanging for the door verse 37, etc.
Exo 36:1 “And Betsal’ĕl and
Oholiaḇ, and every wise-hearted man in whom יהוה has given wisdom and understanding, to know
how to do all work for the service of the set-apart place, shall do according
to all that יהוה has commanded.” – These two servants of EL YAHVEH were the Spirit of Wisdom and
Understanding were, they minister in the Holy Place , they minister to those who
are set apart, bethrod to become the Bride-to-be.
Exo 36:2 And Mosheh called Betsal’ĕl and Oholiaḇ, and every wise-hearted man in
whose heart יהוה had given wisdom, everyone whose heart lifted
him up, to come and do the work. - Moses called Betsalel and
Oholiab two men, not two women and other wise men to come and do the work of
ministry. The women were help mate of the men.
Exo 36:3 And they received from Mosheh all the contribution which the children of
Yisra’ĕl had brought for the work of the service of making the set-apart place.
But they still brought to him voluntary offerings every morning, - The contributions for the
Tabernacle had been brought to Moses’ tent in great quantity on the first day
he made the appeal, and he instructed Bezel and the others to take it to the
site where they would be working.
In their zeal to have a share
in the construction, the people continued to bring their gifts to Moses, who
had it taken to the work site. After a few days, the artisans informed Moses
that there was already more than enough, so Moses called a halt to the
contributions. The sequence of events is a tribute to all concerned. The
generosity of the people were unlimited. The Artisans were scrupulously honest,
refusing to acept more than they needed.
Moses, unlike typical leaders,
was unintrested in the self-aggrandizement of amassing huge treasuries that
would be at his disposal.
Exo 36:4 so all the craftsmen who were doing all the work of the set-apart place
came, each from the work he was doing, -
Exo 36:5 and they spoke to Mosheh, saying, “The people bring much more than enough
for the service of the work which יהוה commanded us to do.” – The
honesty of the workmen. When they had cut out their work, and found how their
stuff held out, and that the people were still forward to bring in more, they
went to Moses to tell him that there needed no more contributions. Had they
sought their own things, they had now a fair opportunity of enriching
themselves by the people’s gifts; for they might have made up their work, and
converted the surplus to their own use, as perquisites of their place. But they
were men of integrity, that scorned to do so mean a thing as to sponge upon the
people, and enrich themselves with that which was offered to ABBA YAHVEH.
Those are the
greatest cheats that cheat the public. If to murder many is worse than to
murder one, by the same rule to defraud communities, and to rob the church or
state, is a much greater crime than to pick the pocket of a single person. But
these workmen were not only ready to account for all they received, but were
not willing to receive more than they had occasion for, lest they should come
either into the temptation or under the suspicion of taking it to themselves.
These were men that knew when they had enough.
Exo 36:6 Then Mosheh commanded and they sent this word throughout the camp, saying,
“Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the contribution of the
set-apart place.” And the people were withheld from bringing, - The
liberality of the people. Though they saw what an abundance was contributed,
yet they continued to offer, till they were forbidden by proclamation. A rare
instance! Most need a spur to quicken their charity; few need a bridle to check
it, yet these did. Had Moses aimed to enrich himself, he might have suffered
them still to bring in their offerings; and when the work was finished might
have taken the remainder to himself: but he also preferred the public before
his own private interest, and was therein a good example to all in public
trusts. It is said, The people were restrained from bringing; they
looked upon it as a restraint upon them not to be allowed to do more for the
tabernacle; such was the zeal of those people, who gave to their power, yea,
and beyond their power, praying the collectors with much entreaty to
receive the gift, 2 Co. 8:3, 4. These were the fruits of a first love; in
these last-days charity has grown too cold for us to expect such things from
it.
Exo 36:7 for what they had was enough for all the work to be done, more than enough. – There is more than enough
grace to complete the work that is required for us to complete our Tabernacle.
Grace is given according to EL YAHVEH abundant mercies.
Exo 36:8 Then all the wise-hearted ones among them who worked on the Dwelling Place made
ten curtains woven of fine linen and blue and purple and scarlet material. They made them with
keruḇim, the work of a skilled workman. – There is
a corporate Tabernacle and there is a individual tabernacle. This first piece
of the Tabernacle were the ten curtains which covered the Tabernacle, these
curtains represent: Righteousness, Heavenly character, the principle of
royalty, and redemption, with two Cherubin over it.
Chapter 36:8 – 38:7, these two
chapter describethe construction and the assembling of the Tabernacle and its
parts.Commentry can be found in previous chapters.
Exo 36:9 The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each
curtain four cubits, all the curtains having one measure. – Each of the curtain had the same measurement dipcting
the same spiritual purpose.
Exo 36:10 And he joined five curtains, one to another; and the other five curtains he
joined, one to another. – Five is the number
of grace, the covering for the believer.
Exo 36:11 And he made loops of blue on the edge of the end curtain of one set, the
same he did on the edge of the end curtain of the other set. – Blue is the color that represent heavenly character, it
is this character that hold the two sets of curtain together.
Exo 36:12 Fifty loops he made on one curtain, and fifty loops he made on the edge of
the end curtain of the second set; the loops held one curtain to another. –
Exo 36:13 And he made fifty hooks of gold, and joined the curtains to each other with
the hooks, and the Dwelling Place
became one. – The first work they set about was the framing of the
house, which must be done before the furniture of it was prepared. This house
was not made of timber or stone, but of curtains curiously embroidered and
coupled together. This served to typify the state of Yisrael in this world, the
palace of YAH ’s kingdom among men.
Though it is upon
the earth, yet its foundation is not in the earth, as that of a house is; no,
Messiyah’s kingdom is not of this world, nor founded in it.
It is mean and
mutable, and in a militant state; shepherds dwelt in tents, and YAHVEH is the
Shepherd of Yisrael; soldiers dwelt in tents, and YAHVEH TSEBAOTE is a man of
war, and HIS Yisrael marches through an enemy’s country, and must fight its
way.
The kings of the
earth enclose themselves in cedar (Jer. 22:15), but the ark of YAHVEH was
lodged in curtains only.
Yet there is a
beauty in holiness; the curtains were embroidered, so is the Messianic adorned
with the gifts and graces of the Spirit, that raiment of needle-work,
Ps. 45:14. 4. The several societies of believers are united in one, and, as
here, all become one tabernacle; for there is one YAHVEH, one faith, and one
baptism.
Exo 36:14 And he made curtains of goats’ hair
for the tent over the Dwelling
Place , he made eleven curtains. –
Exo 36:15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain
four cubits, the eleven curtains having one measure. –
Exo 36:16 And he joined five curtains by themselves and six curtains by themselves.
Exo 36:17 And he made fifty loops on the edge of the end curtain in one set, and
fifty loops he made on the edge of the curtain of the second set. –
Exo 36:18 And he made fifty bronze hooks to join the tent, to be one. –
Exo 36:19 And he made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins, dyed red, and a
covering of fine leather above that. –
Exo 36:20 And for the Dwelling Place
he made boards of acacia wood, standing up. – Here, 1. The shelter and special protection that
the church is under are signified by the curtains of hair-cloth, which were
spread over the tabernacle, and the covering of rams’ skins and badgers’ skins
over them, verse 14–19. YAHVEH has provided for his people a shadow from the
heat, and a covert from storm and rain, Isa. 4:6. They are armed against
all weathers; the sun and the moon shall not smite them: and they are protected
from the storms of divine wrath, that hail which will sweep away the refuge
of lies, Isa. 28:17.
Exo 36:21 The length of each board was ten cubits, and the width of each board a
cubit and a half. -
Exo 36:22 Each board had two tenons for binding one to another. So he did to all the
boards of the Dwelling Place. –
Exo 36:23 And he made boards for the Dwelling Place, twenty boards for the south
side. -
Exo 36:24 And he made forty sockets of silver to go under the twenty boards, and two
sockets under each of the boards for its two tenons. –
Exo 36:25 And for the other side of the Dwelling Place, for the north side, he made
twenty boards, -
Exo 36:26 and their forty sockets of silver, two sockets under the one board, and two
sockets under the other board. –
Exo 36:27 And he made six boards for the west side of the Dwelling Place . –
Exo 36:28
And he made two boards for the two back corners of the Dwelling Place . –
Exo 36:29 And they were double beneath, and similarly they were complete to the top
by one ring. So he did to both of them for the two corners. –
Exo 36:30 And there were eight boards, and their silver sockets, sixteen sockets, two
sockets under each of the boards. –
Exo 36:31 And he made bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the
Dwelling Place, -
Exo 36:32 and five bars for the boards on the other side of the Dwelling Place, and
five bars for the boards of the Dwelling Place at the rear, westward. –
Exo 36:33 And he made the middle bar to pass through the boards from one end to the
other. –
Exo 36:34 And he overlaid the boards with gold, and their rings he made of gold to be
holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold. – Those
that dwell in YAHVEH’s house shall find, be the tempest ever so violent, or the
dropping ever so continual, it does not rain in. The strength and stability of
the church, though it is but a tabernacle, are signified by the boards and bars
with which the curtains were borne up, verse 20–34. The boards were coupled
together and joined by the bars which shot through them; for the union of the
church, and the hearty agreement of those that are its stays and supporters,
contribute abundantly to its strength and establishment.
Exo 36:35 And he made a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine worked linen. It was made with keruḇim, the
work of a skilled workman. –
Exo 36:36 And he made four columns of acacia wood for it, and overlaid them with
gold, with their hooks of gold. And he cast four sockets of silver for them. – In the
building of a house there is a great deal of work about the doors and
partitions. In the tabernacle these were answerable to the rest of the fabric;
there were curtains for doors, and veils for partitions. There was a veil made
for a partition between the holy place, and the most holy, verse. This
signified the darkness and distance of that dispensation, compared with the New
Testament, which shows us the glory of God more clearly and invites us to draw
near to it; and the darkness and distance of our present state, in comparison
with heaven, where we shall be ever with the Lord and see him as he
is.
Exo 36:37 And he made a covering for the Tent door of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine woven linen, made
by a weaver, - There was a veil made for the door of the tabernacle.
At this door the people assembled, though forbidden to enter; for, while we are
in this present state, we must get as near to YAHVEH as we can.
Exo 36:38 and its five columns with their hooks. And he overlaid their tops and their
rings with gold, but their five sockets were of bronze.-
Chapter 37
The Torah ends the account of
the Tabernacle’s construction with the vessels that represent the essence of
the sanctuary’s teaching. In the words of the well-known Sabbath hymn, last in
deed, but first in thought. These vesels, that are contained in the Tabernacle
structure, symbolize the innermost of human ideals: There is an Ark containing EL YAHVEH’S
teaching; there is a table that reflects man’s struggle to sustain his physical
being by fighting for his daily bread; and finally, there is a Menorah thet
reflects man’s destiny to spread the light of Torah beyon himself. The Ark that is in the Holy
of Holies symbolizes man’s ultimate destination., and throught them to the
entire world.
The arrangement of these
vessels symbolize the five place where El Yahushua bleed from on the Cross. His
nail pearce feet, the wound from the spear, the nail pearce right and left
hand, and the Crown of thorns.
Experienceing each Altar
represent every steps towards full maturity. The Brazen Altar our initial
salvation “Justification” the Laver, our santification and our atonement, The
Altar of Showbread the Word, the Menorah the Seven Spirit of EL YAHVEH, the
Altar of burn inscence praise and worship. The Ark of the Covenant, our
Ultimate destination.
Exo 37:1 And Betsal’ĕl made
the ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, and a cubit and a half
wide, and a cubit and a half high. –
Exo 37:2 And he overlaid it with clean gold inside and
outside, and made a moulding of gold all around it.
Exo 37:3 And he cast four rings of gold for it, for
its four feet, two rings on its one side, and two rings on its other side.
Exo 37:4 And he made poles of acacia wood, and
overlaid them with gold.
Exo 37:5
And he
put the poles into the rings at the sides of the ark, to lift the ark.
Exo 37:6 And he made a lid of atonement of clean gold,
two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.
Exo 37:7 And he made two keruḇim of beaten gold. He
made them from the two ends of the lid of atonement,
Exo 37:8 one keruḇ at one end on this side, and the
other keruḇ at the other end on that side. He made the keruḇim from the lid
of atonement, from the two ends. -
Exo 37:9 And the keruḇim spread out their wings
above, and covered the lid of atonement with their wings, with their faces
toward each other, the faces of the keruḇim were turned toward the lid of atonement.
– It may be thought strange that
Moses, when he had recorded so completely the instructions given him upon the
mount for the making of all these things, should here record as particularly
the making of them, when it might have sufficed only to have said, in a few
words, that each of these things was made exactly according to the directions
before recited. We are sure that Moses, when he wrote by divine inspiration,
used no vain repetitions; there are no idle words in scripture. Why then are so
many chapters taken up with this narrative, which we are tempted to think
needless and tedious? But we must consider.
That Moses wrote
primarily for the people of Yisrael, to whom it would be of great use to read
and hear often of these divine and sacred treasures with which they were
entrusted. These several ornaments wherewith the tabernacle was furnished they
were not admitted to see, but the priests only, and therefore it was requisite
that they should be thus largely described particularly to them. That which
they ought to read again (lest they should fail of doing it) is written again
and again: thus many of the same passages of the history of Messiyah are in the
Renew Covanant related by two or three, and some by four of the evangelists,
for the same reason. The great things of YAH’s law and gospel we need to have inculcated
upon us again and again. To write the same (says St. Paul) to me is not
grievous, but for you it is safe, Phil. 3:1.
Moses would thus
show the great care which he and his workmen took to make every thing exactly
according to the pattern shown him in the mount. Having before given us the
original, he here givers us the copy, that we may compare them, and observe how
exactly they agree. Thus he appeals to every reader concerning his fidelity to
him that appointed him, in all his house, and in all the particulars of it,
Heb. 3:5. And thus he teaches us to have respect to all YAH’s commandments,
even to every iota and tittle of them.
It is intimated
hereby that YAHVEH takes delight in the sincere obedience of his people, and
keeps an exact account of it, which shall be produced to their honor in the
resurrection of the just. None can be so punctual in their duty, but YAHVEH
will be as punctual in his notices of it. He is not unrighteous to forget
the work and labour of love, in any instance of it, Heb. 6:10.
The spiritual riches
and beauties of the gospel tabernacle are hereby recommended to our frequent
and serious consideration. Go walk about this Zion , view it and review it: the more you
contemplate the glories of Yisrael, the more you will admire them and be in
love with them. The charter of its privileges, and the account of its
constitution, will very well bear a second reading.
In these verses we
have an account of the making of the ark, with its glorious and most
significant appurtenances, the mercy-seat and the cherubim. Consider these
three together, and they represent the glory of a holy god, the sincerity of a
holy heart, and the communion that is between them, in and by a Mediator. 1. It
is the glory of a holy god that he dwells between the cherubim; that is, is
continually attended and adored by the blessed angels, whose swiftness was
signified by their faces being one towards another.
It is the character
of an upright heart that, like the ark of the testimony, it has the law of YAHVEH
hid and kept in it. By Messiyah Yahushua, the great propitiation, there is
reconciliation made, and a communion settled, between us and YAHVEH: he
interposes between us and YAH’s displeasure; and not only so, but through him
we become entitled to YAH’s favour. If he write his law in our heart, he will
be to us a YAHVEH and we shall be to him a people. From the mercy-seat he will
teach us, there he will accept us, and show himself merciful to our
unrighteousness; and under the shadow of his wings we shall be safe and easy.
Exo
37:10 And he made the table of acacia wood, two
cubits long, and a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high.
Exo
37:11 And he overlaid it with clean gold, and made
a moulding of gold all around it. –
Exo
37:12 And he made a rim of a handbreadth all around
it, and made a moulding of gold for the rim all around it.
Exo
37:13 And he cast four rings of gold for it, and
put the rings on the four corners that were at its four legs.
–
Exo
37:14 The rings were next to the rim, as holders
for the poles to lift the table. –
Exo
37:15 And he made the poles of acacia wood to lift
the table, and overlaid them with gold. -
Exo
37:16 And he made the utensils which were on the
table, its dishes, and its cups, and its bowls, and its jars for pouring, of
clean gold. - Here is, the making of the table on which the show-bread the Spiritual
word was to be continually placed. YAHVEH is a good householder, that always
keeps a plentiful table. Is the world his tabernacle? His providence in it
spreads a table for all the creatures: he provides food for all flesh.
Is the church his tabernacle? His grace in it spreads a table for all
believers, furnished with the bread of life.
But observe how much
the dispensation of the gospel exceeds that of the law. Though here was a table
furnished, it was only with show-bread, bread to be looked upon, not to
be fed upon, while it was on this table, and afterwards only by the priests;
but to the table which Messiyah has spread in the renew covenant all real
Yisrael are invited guests; and to them it is said, Eat, O friends, come eat
of my bread. What the law gave but a sight of at a distance, the gospel
gives the enjoyment of, and a hearty welcome to.
Exo
37:17 And he made the Menorah of clean gold. He
made the Menorah of beaten work, its base, and its shaft, its cups, its
ornamental knobs, and its blossoms were from it. -
Exo
37:18 And six branches came out of its sides: three
branches of the Menorah out of one side, and three branches of the lampstand
out of the other side.
Exo
37:19 There were three cups like almond flowers on
one branch, with ornamental knob and blossom, and three cups like almond
flowers on the other branch, a knob and a blossom.
– so for the six branches coming out of the lampstand.
Exo
37:20 And on the Menorah were four cups like almond
flowers, its knobs and blossoms,
Exo
37:21 and a knob under the first two branches of
the same, and a knob under the second two branches of the same, and a knob
under the third two branches of the same, for the six branches coming out of it.
–
Exo
37:22 Their knobs and their branches were of it,
all of it was one beaten work of clean gold. –
Exo
37:23 And he made its seven lamps, and its
snuffers, and its trays, of clean gold.
Exo
37:24 He made it of a talent of clean gold, and all
its utensils. –
Exo
37:25 And he made the incense altar of acacia wood,
a cubit long and a cubit wide, square, and two cubits high. Its horns were of
it. – The making
of the candlestick, which was not of wood overlaid with gold, but all beaten
work of pure gold only. This signified that light of divine revelation with
which YAH’s Yisrael upon earth (which is his tabernacle among men) has always
been enlightened, being always supplied with fresh oil from Messiyah the good
Olive, Zec. 4:2.
YAH’s manifestations
of himself in this world are but candle-light compared with the daylight of the
future state. The Holy Spirit is the Menorah; it is of pure gold, Isaiah 11:2.
From it light is diffused to every part of YAH’s tabernacle, that by it his
spiritual priests may see to minister unto ABBA YAHVEH, and to do the service
of his sanctuary. This Menorah has not only its bowls for necessary use, but
its knops and flowers for ornament; there are many things which YAHVEH saw fit
to beautify his word with which we can no more give a reason for than for these
knops and flowers, and yet we are sure that they were added for a good purpose.
Let us bless YAHVEH
for this Menorah, have an eye to it continually, and dread the removal of it
out of its place.
Exo
37:26 And he overlaid it with clean gold, its top
and its sides all around, and its horns. And he made a moulding for it of gold
all around it. –
Exo
37:27 And he made two rings of gold for it under
its moulding, at its two corners on both sides, as holders for the poles with
which to lift it. –
Exo
37:28 And he made the poles of acacia wood, and
overlaid them with gold. –
Exo
37:29 And he made the set-apart anointing oil and
the clean incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the perfumer.
– In verse 26 – 29 we see here is,
1. The making of the golden altar, on which incense was to be burnt daily,
which signified both the prayers of saints and the intercession of Messiyah, to
which are owing the acceptableness and success of those prayers.
The rings and
staves, and all the appurtenances of this altar, were overlaid with gold, as
all the vessels of the table and candlestick were of gold, for these were used
in the holy place. YAHVEH is the best, and we must serve him with the best we
have; but the best we can serve him with in his courts on earth is but as
brass, compared with the gold, the sinless and spotless perfection, with which
his saints shall serve him in his holy place above.
The preparing of the
incense which was to be burnt upon this altar, and with it the holy anointing
oil, according to the dispensatory, ch. 30:22, etc. ABBA YAHVEH taught Bezaleel
this art also; so that though he was not before acquainted with it yet he made
up these things according to the work of the apothecary, as dexterously and
exactly as if he had been bred up to the trade. Where YAHVEH gives wisdom and
grace, it will make the man of YAHVEH perfect, thoroughly furnished to every
good work.
Chapter
38
Here is an account,
II. The preparing of
the hangings for the enclosing of the court in which the tabernacle was to
stand verse 9–20.
III. A summary of
the gold, silver, and brass, that was contributed to, and used in, the preparing
of the tabernacle verse 21, etc.
Exo 38:1 And he made the altar of burnt offering of
acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide, square, and three cubits
high. –
Exo 38:2 And he made its horns on its four corners,
the horns were of it. And he overlaid it with bronze.
–
Exo 38:3 And he made all the utensils for the altar:
the pots, and the shovels, and the basins, and the forks, and the fire holders.
He made all its utensils of bronze. –
Exo 38:4 And he made a grating for the altar, a bronze
network, under its rim, midway from the bottom. –
Exo 38:5
And he
cast four rings for the four corners of the bronze grating, as holders for the
poles. –
Exo 38:6
And he
made the poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with bronze. -
Exo 38:7 And he put the poles into the rings on the
sides of the altar, with which to lift it. He made the altar hollow with boards.
–
Exo 38:8 And he made the basin of bronze and its stand
of bronze, from the bronze mirrors of the serving women who did service at the
door of the Tent of Meeting. – The Lavel was a very large
copper basin in the tabernacle Courtyard from which the Kohanim (Priest) were
required to wash their hand and feet before performing the service in the Holy Place .
It was not made of copper from the regular
contributions, since the Lavel is not listed in the next Parsha (30-31) among
the item that made from that copper. Our verse tell us that the Lavel was made
exclusively from the brightly polish sheets of copper that the women used as
mirror, in those days.
When the call went out for contributions, the women
came with their copper mirror and piled them up at Moses’ tent, which, until
the erection of the Tabernacle, was known as the Tent of Meeting.
Moses was reluctant to accept such gifts for the
Tabernacle, because they had been used to incite lust. EL YAHVEH told him he
was wrong, however, because these very same mirrors had been instrumental in
the survival of the nation.
In Egypt ,
the men would come home at night from exhausted backbreaking labor in the
field, and the women would use the mirror to make them self presentable for
their husband, to help continue the family life producing children. To the
contrary, EL YAHVEH, said not only should the mirror be accepted, they should
be uses in the entire construction of the Lavel.
The reason the Torah does not give a specific size
for the Laver is because as believers we come to justification with different
baggage’s, different level of contamination, and require different amount of
water to wash away our filth. Regardless of how many times we get unclean, we
can always come back to this altar for cleansing.
This Altar symbolizes Grace in its fullness. How
deep in the YAHVEH’S Grace. How much water do we need to remove our
transgressions. Even after we are saved, and have been walk in the right path
for years, we are bound to touch a dead thing, we have to come right back to
this Altar for cleaning.
This Altar also represent the Red Sea, as Moses
took the children of Yisrael trough the Red Sea a form of water baptism, or
initial sanctification, where all sins from our past life are removed, as
Pharaoh army represent those things that kept us captive in the pass life are
removed permanently.
If a person who was a drug addict came to
Justification, they would be brought to this altar by the Pastor, who would
used the water that flow from the Side of Yahushua (Jesus) to removed the
addiction. For scripture says that whom the son sets free is free indeed. John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make
you free, ye shall be free indeed.
When Yahushua had the last Passover there was an incident
with Peter: John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt
never wash my feet. Messiyah Yahushua answered him, If I wash thee not, thou
hast no part with me. This was the same Altar Yahushua was
exercising or describing to Peter. If we like the Kohanim do not regularly wash
our self, we cannot approach our Heavenly Father. We must wash our hand –
repentance for our work, wash our feet – repentance for our spiritual walk.
Before Passover, a feet washing is require to sanctify us
from all things that might make us unfit for the Passover celebration. There is
enough water in the Laver as there was enough water in the Red Sea to drown
Pharaoh Army.
The use of the mirror is also a prophetic illustration of
the purpose of this altar. As the women used the mirror to look at them selves,
we too must use this Altar to look at our reflection in the water, and see
ourselves as our Father sees us. When I look in the mirror of my washroom, is I
see a spot on my face, I used the water to wash it away. It is the same for the
Lavel, when we read Torah and see what we are not to do, we must confess our
sins at this Altar and ask our Lord and Savior Yahushua to remove our evil
inclinations from us.
That is why, after Passover we are ask to go without eating
leaven for seven days. The old leaven, our old sin is taken out and is not
brought back into the house, symbolizing, that all past evil ways must never be
repeated again.
The Lavel is the office of the Pastor, or counselor, those
who help us to walk trough our addictions, those thing that is a strong tower
in our life for the wrong reasons. It is the place where we repair our marriage
relationship, or family issue. The circumstance of life is to reveal to us
these issue, when we discovered them our next step is to bring them to the
lavel, to the Blood and water that flow from the Side of Yahushua, for
atonement and sanctification.
We can never overcome the desire of the flesh, without this
Altar. The Lavel the only altar without any dimension. Who so ever will may
come? Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away
thy sins, calling on the name of YAHVEH. Notice that baptism is associated with
washing away of one’s sins. As long as we are in the flesh, we will need a
constant washing of the water, as we wash our hand and feet every day, so must
we wash spiritually in the Blood and the water that flow from the side of
Yahushua.
We are told that there are two lamb, one was slain in the
morning (Blood) and the other one was let go at evening (Water), so must we
cover our self in the Blood of Yahushua every morning for our protection and
wash our self in the water at evening when we get home, a form of repentance
from our daily association with the world.
Our spiritual growth entail a careful examine of our selves
against the Word of EL YAHVEH. The test we experience in life is to see if we
have learned the principles written in the Torah. How well did I learn what I
was told? When we were in school, our teacher would teach us a subject then
they would test us to see how well we had learn. What we fail to grasp, will
show up in our marks. Our marks are to show us what we need to work on, those
week areas of our live.
The Holy Spirit is to help us control those strong areas,
and build up those weak areas. The strong areas if not carefully scrutinize can
be a point of abuse, and those weak areas if not developed can be a source of
addiction for us. May you exercise this altar everyday.
Exo 38:9
And he made the courtyard: for the south
side the screens of the courtyard were of fine woven linen, one hundred cubits long,
-
Exo
38:10 there twenty columns and their twenty
sockets, of bronze. The hooks of the columns and their bands were of silver.
–
Exo
38:11 And for the north side the screens were one
hundred cubits long, their twenty columns and their twenty sockets, of bronze.
The hooks of the columns and their bands were of silver. –
Exo
38:12 And for the west side there were screens of
fifty cubits, their ten columns and their ten sockets. The hooks of the columns
and their bands were of silver. –
Exo 38:13 And for the east side eastward, fifty cubits:
-
Exo
38:14 fifteen cubits of screens on the one side,
with their three columns and their three sockets, -
Exo
38:15 and fifteen cubits of screens the other side
of the courtyard gate, on this side and that side, with their three columns and
their three sockets. –
Exo
38:16 All the screens of the courtyard all around
were of fine woven linen. –
Exo
38:17 And the sockets for the columns were of
bronze, the hooks of the columns and their bands were of silver, and the
overlay of their tops was of silver. And all the columns of the courtyard had
bands of silver. –
Exo
38:18 And the covering for the gate of the
courtyard was the work of an embroiderer, of blue and purple and scarlet material, and of fine woven linen,
and twenty cubits long, and the height along its width was five cubits,
corresponding to the screens of the courtyard. –
Exo
38:19 And the columns were four, and their sockets
of bronze four, their hooks were of silver, and the overlay of their tops and
their bands was of silver. –
Exo 38:20 And all the pegs of the Dwelling Place, and
of the courtyard all around, were of bronze. - The walls of the court, or church-yard, were like
the rest curtains or hangings, made according to the appointment, ch. 27:9,
etc. This represented the state of the pre Messiyah Yisrael: it was a garden
enclosed; the worshippers were then confined to a little compass. But the
enclosure being of curtains only intimated that the confinement of the church
in one particular nation was not to be perpetual. The dispensation itself was a
tabernacle-dispensation, movable and mutable, and in due time to be taken down
and folded up, when the place of the tent should be enlarged and its cords
lengthened, to make room for the Gentile world, as is foretold, Isa. 54:2, 3.
The church here on earth
is but the court of YAH’s house, and happy they that tread these courts and
flourish in them; but through these courts we are passing to the holy place
above. Blessed are those that dwell in that house of YAHVEH: they well
be still praising him. The enclosing of a court before the tabernacle
teaches us a gradual approach to YAHVEH. The priests that ministered must pass
through the holy court, before they entered the holy house. Thus before solemn
ordinances there ought to be the separated and enclosed court of a solemn
preparation, in which we must wash our hands, and so draw near with a true
heart.
Haftarah
Melechim Alef “First Kings”
7:40-50
1Ki 7:40 And Ḥiram made the pots and the shovels and
the bowls. And Ḥiram completed doing all the work that he was to do for
Sovereign Shelomoh on the House of יהוה :
- Besides these, there was a vast
number of brass pots made to boil the flesh of the peace-offerings in, which
the priests and offerers were to feast upon before ABBA YAHVEH (see 1 Sa.
2:14); also shovels, wherewith they took out the ashes of the altar.
Some think the word
signifies flesh-hooks, with which they took meat out of the pot. The
basins also were made of brass, to receive the blood of the sacrifices. These
are put for all the utensils of the brazen altar, Ex. 38:3. While they were
about it they made abundance of them, that they might have a good stock by them
when those that were first in use wore out and went to decay. Therefore
Solomon, having the wisdom and understand to do so, provided for posterity.
1Ki 7:41 the two columns, and the bowl-shaped capitals that were on top of the
columns, and the two networks covering the two bowl-shaped capitals which were
on top of the columns; -
1Ki 7:42 and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of
pomegranates for each network to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals that were
on top of the columns; -
1Ki 7:43 and the ten stands, and the ten basins on the stands; -
1Ki 7:44 and the one Sea, and twelve oxen under the Sea; -
1Ki 7:45 and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls. And all these utensils which
Ḥiram made for Sovereign Shelomoh for the House of יהוה were of polished bronze. –
1Ki 7:46 The sovereign had them cast in clay in the district of Yardĕn between
Sukkoth and Tsarethan. –
1Ki 7:47 And Shelomoh left all the utensils unweighed,
because they were many, nor was the weight of the bronze searched out. – The
quantity was not accounted for. The vessels were unnumbered (so it may be read, as well as unweighed), because they were exceedingly numerous, and it would have been
an endless thing to keep the account of them; neither was the weight of the brass, when it was delivered to
the workmen, searched or enquired into; so honest were the workmen, and such
great plenty of brass they had, that there was no danger of wanting. We must
ascribe it to Solomon’s care that he provided so much, not to his carelessness
that he kept no account of it.
1Ki 7:48 So Shelomoh made all the utensils for the House of יהוה : the altar of
gold, and the table of gold on which was the showbread; - The
making of the gold work of the temple, which it seems was done last, for with
it the work of the house of YAHVEH ended. All within doors was gold, and all
made new (except the ark, with its mercy-seat and cherubim), the old being
either melted down or laid by, the golden altar, table, and candlestick, with
all their appurtenances.
The altar of incense
was still one, for Messiyah and His intercession are so: but he made ten
golden tables, 2 Chr. 4:8 (though here mention is made of that one only on
which the show-bread was, which we may suppose was larger than the rest and
to which the rest were as side-boards2. The bringing in of the dedicated
things, which David had devoted to the honor of YAHVEH, v. 51. What was not
expended in the building and furniture was laid up in the treasury, for
repairs, exigencies, and the constant charge of the temple-service. What the
parents have dedicated to ABBA YAHVEH, the children ought by no means to
alienate or recall, but should cheerfully devote what was intended for pious
and charitable uses, that they may, with their estates, inherit the blessing.
1Ki 7:49 and the lampstands of refined gold, five on the right side and five on the
left in front of the Speaking Place, with the flowers and the lamps and the
snuffers of gold; - The construction of the Menorah, instead of one as
in Moses Tabernacle, the were now ten Menorah, intimating the much greater out
pouring of the Holy Spirit and heavenly light which the renewed covenant bless
us with.
1Ki 7:50 and the basins, and the snuffers, and
the bowls, and the ladles, and the fire holders of refined gold, and the hinges
of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the Most Set-apart Place, and
for the doors of the house of the Hĕḵal. - Even the hinges of the door were of gold, that
every thing might be alike magnificent, as Solomon was a type of Messiyah
generosity. Some suggest that every thing was made with splendid in YAH’s
temple to keep the people from idolatry, for none of the idol-temples were so
rich and fine as this: but how little the expedient availed the event showed.

“Hebrews”:9:1-14
The apostle, having
declared the Pre Messiyah age antiquated and vanishing away, proceeds to let
the Hebrews see the correspondence there was between the pre Messiyah and the
post Messiyah covenant; and that whatever was excellent in the Old was typical
and representative of the New, which therefore must as far more excel the Old
as the substance does the shadow. The Old covenant was never intended to be
rested in, but to prepare for the institutions of the gospel. And here he
treats,
I. Of the tabernacle,
the place of worship verse 1-5.
II. Of the worship
and services performed in the tabernacle verse 6, 7.
III. He delivers the
spiritual sense and the main design of all verse 8 to the end).
Heb 9:1 Now the first covenant indeed had regulations of
worship and the earthly set-apart place. – In
this verse the apostle gives an account of the Tabernacle, that place of
worship which ABBA YAHVEH appointed to be pitched on earth; it is called a
worldly sanctuary, a replica of an Heavenly Tabernacle, but it was build as
an example this world, as to the materials of which it was built, and a
building that must be taken down; it is called a worldly sanctuary,
because it was the court and palace of the King of Yisrael.
YAHVEH was their
King, and, as other kings, had HIS court or place of residence, and attendants,
furniture, and provision, suitable thereto. This tabernacle (of which we have
the model, Ex. 25–27) was a moving temple, shadowing forth the unsettled state
of Yisrael, and the human nature of Messiyah, in whom the fullness of the Holy
Spirit and the Word dwelt bodily. Now of this tabernacle it is said that it was
divided into two parts, called a first and a second tabernacle, an inner and an
outer part, representing the two states of our spiritual journey. We are also
told what was placed in each part of the tabernacle.
Heb 9:2 For a Tent was prepared: the first part, in
which was the Menorah, and the table, and the showbread, which is called the Set-apart Place . – The Menorah represent the Holy
spirit the Blood from the Right Hand of Messiyah, and the Altar of Showbread
the Torah or the Word. Those who are set apart or those who are saved, there
responsibility is to learn the Torah Hebrew 8:10 and have the Holy Spirit
inside of them Exekiel 36:27. This is similar to placing the 10 Commandment and
Aaron Rod inside the Ark of the Covenant.
Heb 9:3 And after the
second veil, the part of the Tent which is called Most Set-apart, - In this verse we see We have an account of what was in the inner part of
the sanctuary, which was within the second veil, and is called the holiest
of all. This second veil, which divided between the holy and the most holy
place, was a type of heaven itself. Now in this part were, The golden censer,
which was to hold the incense, or the golden altar set up to burn the incense
upon; both the one and the other were typical of the Blood that flow from the
Crown of Thorns, of his pleasing and prevailing intercession which he makes in
heaven, grounded upon the merits and satisfaction of his sacrifice, upon which
we are to depend for acceptance and the blessing from ABBA YAHVEH. In Moses
Tabernacle this Altar was in the Holy
Place , however in Solomons Temple it is in the
Holy of Holies.
Heb 9:4 to which belonged
the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold,
in which were the golden pot that held the manna, and the rod of Aharon that
budded, and the tablets of the covenant, - The ark of the
covenant overlaid round about with pure gold. This typified Messiyah,
perfection in obedience to the law and his fulfilling of all righteousness for
us. Now here we are told both what was in this ark and what was over it.
What was in it. First,
The golden pot that had manna, which, represent the mature beliver ability
to teach or feed others from what was inside of us. Secondly, Aaron’s rod
that budded, represent the infilling of the Holy Spirit that bear the
fruits of the Spirit, Galatians 19:21-22. Thirdly, The tables of the
covenant, in which the ten Commandment the summary of the Torah, signifying
the regard God has to the preservation of his holy law, and the care we all
ought to have that we keep the Torah inside of us as we do the Holy Spirit.
Heb 9:5 and above it the keruḇim of esteem were
overshadowing the place of atonement – about which we do not now speak in
detail. – In this verse
we see the crowning glory of the mature believer. When the ten commandment and
the HHoly Spirit are internalize we will become a pot of Manna to those around
us. When we walk in the fullness of the Ark of the Covenant, ABBA YAHVEH will
place on us the Kerubin of HIS Esteem.
Heb 9:6 And these having
been prepared like this, the priests always went into the first part of the
Tent, accomplishing the services. – From
the description of the place of worship in the days of Moses is a shadow of the
worship in Messiyah times. In this verse the Apostle proceeds to speak of the
duties and services performed in the Holy
Place . When the several parts and furniture of the
tabernacle were thus settled, then what was to be done there?
The ordinary priests
went always into the first tabernacle, to accomplish the service of ABBA YAHVEH.
None but priests were to enter into the first part of the tabernacle, and this
to teach us that persons not qualified, not called of ABBA YAHVEH, must not
intrude into the office and work of the ministry.
The ordinary priests
were only to enter into the first part of the tabernacle, it would have been
fatal presumption in them to have gone into the holiest of all; and this
teaches us that even ministers themselves must know and keep in their proper
stations, and not presume to usurp the prerogative of Messiyah Yahushua, by
offering up incense of their own, or adding their own inventions to the
ordinances of Mesiyah, or lording it over men’s consciences.
These ordinary
priests Ministers were to enter into the first part of the Tabernacle call the
holy place; that is, they were to devote themselves and all their time to the
work of their office, and not alienate themselves at any time from it; they
were to be in an habitual readiness for the discharge of their office, and at
all stated appointed times were actually to attend to their work.
The ordinary priests
must first enter into the first part of the Tabernacle spiritually before they
can led or minister to anyone else, that they might there accomplish the
service of ABBA YAHVEH. They must not do the work of ABBA YAHVEH partially or
by halves, but stand complete in the whole of his will and counsel; not only
beginning well, but proceeding well, and persevering to the end, fulfilling the
ministry they had received.
Heb 9:7 But
into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood,
which he offered for himself and for sins of ignorance of the people,1
Footnote: 1Num. 15:15-28. – Into the second, the interior part, went the high priest Messiyah
Yahushua alone. This part was an emblem in the heavens, and Messiyah’s
ascension fulfilled.
None but the high
priest must go into the holiest; so none but Messiyah could enter into the
Heavens in His own name, by His own right, and by His own merits, as the High
Priest according to the Order of Melchizedek.
In entering into the holiest, the high priest
must first go through the outer sanctuary, and through the veil, signifying
that Messiyah went to heaven through a holy life and a violent death; the veil
of his flesh was rent asunder.
The high priest
entered but once a year into the holiest, and in this the antitype excels the
type (as in every thing else), for Messiyah has entered once for all, during
the whole dispensation of the gospel.
The high priest must
not enter without blood, signifying that Mesiyah, having undertaken to be our
high priest, could not have been admitted into the heavens without shedding his
blood for us, and that none of us can enter either into YAH’s gracious presence
here or his glorious presence hereafter, but by the blood of Messiyah Yahushua.
The high priest,
under the law, entering into the holiest, offered up that blood for himself and
his own errors first, and then for the errors of the people. This teaches us
that Messiyah Yahushua is a more excellent person and high priest than any
under the law, for he has no errors of His own to offer for. And it teaches us
that ministers, when in the name of Messiyah they intercede for others, must
first apply the blood of Messiyah to themselves for their pardon.
When the legal high
priest had offered for Himself, He must not stop there, but must also offer for
the errors of the people. Our High Priest, though He needs not to offer for
Himself, yet forgets not to offer for His people; He pleads the merit of His
sufferings for the benefit of His people on earth.
Sins are errors, and
great errors, both in judgment and practice, and there is a curse associated
with sin. We greatly err when we sin against ABBA YAHVEH; and who can
understand all his errors?
They are such errors
as leave guilt upon the conscience, not to be washed away but by the blood and
water that flow from Messiyah Side; and the sinful errors of priests and people
must be all done away by the same means, the application of the blood of
Messiyah; we must plead this blood on earth, while he is pleading it in heaven
for us.
Heb 9:8 the Set-apart Spirit signifying this, that
the way into the Most Set-apart Place was not yet made manifest while the first
Tent has a standing, - In these verses the apostle undertakes to deliver to us the mind and
meaning of the Holy Spirit in all the ordinances of the Tabernacle and legal
economy, comprehending both place and worship.
The scriptures or
the Torah were given by inspiration of ABBA YAHVEH; holy men of old spoke and
wrote as the Holy Spirit directed them. And these records are of great use and
significancy, not only to those who first received them, but even to Yisrael
today, who ought not to satisfy themselves with reading the institutes of the
Levitical law without faith in Messiyah and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but
should learn what the Holy spirit signifies and suggests to them in Scripture.
Now here are several things mentioned as the things that the Holy Spirit
signified and certified to His people.
That the way into
the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while the first tabernacle was
standing. This was one lesson the Holy Spirit would teach us by these types and
shadow; the way to heaven was not so clear and plain, nor so much frequented.
It is the honor of Messiyah and the gospel, and the happiness of those who live
under it, that now life and immortality are brought to light. There was not
that free access to ABBA YAHVEH then that there is now; ABBA YAHVEH has now
opened a wider door; and there is room for more, yea, even for as many as are
truly willing to return unto HIM by Messiyah.
Heb 9:9 which was a parable for the present time in
which both gifts and slaughters are offered which are unable to perfect the one
serving, as to his conscience, - That the first tabernacle was only a figure for the time then present.
It was a dark dispensation, and but of short continuance, only designed for
awhile to typify the great things of Messiyah and the gospel, that were in due
time to shine forth in their own brightness, and thereby cause all the shadows
to flee away and disappear, as the stars before the rising sun.
That none of the
gifts and sacrifices there offered could make the offerers perfect as
pertaining to conscience; that is, they could not take away the desert, or
defilement, or dominion, of sin; they could not deliver conscience from a dread
of the wrath of YAHVEH TSEBAOTE; they could neither discharge the debts, nor
resolve the doubts, of him who did the service. A man might run through them
all in their several orders and frequent returns, and continue to do so all his
days, and yet not find his conscience either pacified or purified by them; he
might thereby be saved from corporal and temporal punishments that were
threatened against the non-observers, but he could not be saved by them from
sin or hell, as all those are who believe in Messiyah Yahushua.
Heb 9:10 only as to foods and drinks, and different
washings, and fleshly regulations imposed until a time of setting matters straight. – The Holy Spirit is signifies that the Torah ordinances and statues were
given to show who can become a perfect son. No other human except Messiyah
Yahushua fulfilled ordinance perfectly. These ordinance were potential
revelation until it became realize revelation in the life of Messiyah Yahushua.
Their imperfection lay
in things: 1. Their nature. They were
but external and carnal meats and drinks, and divers washings. Which was
potential revelation. All these were bodily exercises, which profit little;
they could only satisfy the flesh, or at best sanctify to the purifying of the
flesh.
The path to the
heavens is the same yesterday today and forever. What we have today that give
us a better covenant, is the Blood of Messiyah and His Position as our High
Priest.
Heb 9:11 But Messiyah, having become a High Priest of the
coming good matters, through
the greater and more perfect Tent not made with hands, that is, not of this
creation, - The Holy Spirit
signifies to us in this verse that we never make the right use of the type and
shadow, but when we apply them to the antitype; and, whenever we do so, it will
be very evident that the antitype (as in reason it should) complete the require
of the type and shadow, which is the main drift and design of all that is said.
And, as he writes to those who believed that Messiyah had come and that
Yahushua was the Messiyah, so he very justly infers that he is infinitely above
all legal high priests, and he illustrates it very fully. For,
Messiyah is a
high priest of good things to come, by which may be understood, all the
good things that were to be fulfilled in Torah, and now have come under the
renew Covanant. All the spiritual and eternal blessings the pre Messiyah saints
had in their day and under their dispensation were owing to the Messiah to
come, on whom they believed. The Torah ordinances was sent as a shadows what
was to come; the Messiyah is the accomplishment of the requirement of the
Torah.
All the good things
yet to come and to be enjoyed in a post Messiyah kingdom when the promises and
prophecies made to the latter days shall be accomplished; all these depend upon
Messiyah and His priesthood, and shall be fulfilled.
Of all the good
things to come in the heavenly state, which will perfect both the Testaments;
as the state of glory will perfect the state of grace, this state will be in a
much higher sense the perfection of the New Testament than the New Testament
was the perfection of the Old. Observe, All things past, present, and to come,
were, and are, founded upon, and flowing from, the priestly office of Christ.
Messiyah is a High
Priest according to the Order of Melchizedek, by a greater and more perfect
Tabernacle, a Tabernacle not made with hands, that is to say, not of this
building, but His own body, or rather human nature, conceived by the Holy
Spirit overshadowing the blessed virgin. This was a new fabric, a new order of
building, infinitely superior to all earthly structures, not excepting the
tabernacle of the temple itself.
Heb 9:12 entered into the
Most Set-apart Place once for all, not with the blood of goats and calves, but
with His own blood, having obtained everlasting redemption. – Messiyah Yahushua, our high priest, has entered into heaven, not as
their high priest entered into the holiest, with the blood of bulls and of
goats, but by his own blood, typified by theirs, and infinitely more precious.
And this,
Not for one year
only, which showed the imperfection of that priesthood, that it did but
typically obtain a year’s reprieve or pardon. But our high priest entered into
heaven once for all, and has obtained not a yearly respite, but eternal
redemption, and so needs not to make an annual entrance. In each of the types
there was something that showed it was a type, and resembled the antitype, and
something that showed it was but a type, and fell short of the antitype, and
therefore ought by no means to be set up in competition with the antitype.
Heb 9:13
For if
the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the defiled,
sets apart for the cleansing of the flesh, - The Holy Spirit
further signified and showed what was the efficacy of the blood of the Torah
sacrifices, and thence is inferred the much greater efficacy of the blood of
Messiyah. The efficacy of the blood of the legal sacrifices extended to the
purifying of the flesh: it freed the outward man from ceremonial uncleanness
and from temporal punishment, and entitled him to, and fitted him for, some
external privileges.
The whole purpose of
Torah was to create the Messiyah. The torah require perfection, and only one
man ever fulfilled that requirement. This made Messiyah qualified as the
perfect Lamb, with the perfect Blood.
Heb 9:14 how much more shall the blood of the
Messiyah, who through the everlasting Spirit offered Himself unblemished to
Elohim, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living Elohim? – He infers very justly hence the far greater efficacy
of the blood of Messiyah;
How much more
shall the blood of Messiyah etc.
What was it that gave such efficacy to the blood of Messiyah. First, It
was His absolute pureness, one who had no physical or spiritual defect.
Second, He gave
himself to ABBA YAHVEH, the human nature upon the altar of his divine nature,
he being priest, altar, and sacrifice, his divine nature serving for the two
former, and his human nature for the last; now such a priest, altar, and
sacrifice, could not but be propitiatory.
Third, It was
Messiyah Yahushua offering up Himself to ABBA YAHVEH through the eternal
Spirit, not only as the divine nature supported the human, but the Holy Spirit
which He had without measure, helping Him in all, and in this great act of
obedience offering Himself.
Forth, It was
Messiyah Yahushua’s offering himself to ABBA YAHVEH without spot, without any
sinful stain either in his nature or life; this was conformable to the law of
sacrifices, which required them to be without blemish.
What the efficacy of
Messiyah’s blood is; it is very great. For,
First, It is sufficient to purge the conscience from dead
works, it reaches to the very soul and conscience, the defiled soul, defiled
with sin, which is a dead work, proceeds from spiritual death, and tends to
death eternal. As the touching of a dead body gave a legal uncleanness, so
meddling with sin gives a moral and real defilement, fixes it in the very soul;
but the blood of Messiyah has efficacy to purge it out.
Secondly, It is sufficient to enable us to serve the living
EL, not only by purging away that guilt which separates between YAHVEH and
sinners, but by sanctifying and renewing the soul through the gracious influences
of the Holy Spirit, purchased by Messiyah for this purpose, that we might be
enabled to serve the living EL in a lively manner.
Heb 9:15
And
because of this He is the Mediator of a renewed covenant, so that, - The gospel is considered as a testament, the new and
last will and testament of our Messiyah Yahushua. It is observable that the
solemn transactions that pass between EL and man are sometimes called a
covenant, here a testament. A covenant is an agreement between two or more
parties about things that are in their own common intrest, or may be so, and
this either with or without a mediator; this agreement takes effect at such
time and in such manner as declared in the covenant.
A testament is a
voluntary act and deed of a single person, duly executed and witnessed,
bestowing legacies on such legatees as are described and characterized by the
testator, and which can only take effect upon his death. Messiyah Yahushua is the Mediator of a New
Covenant; and He is so for several reasons and purposes here mentioned.
To redeem persons
from their transgressions committed against the law or first testament, which
makes every transgression a forfeiture of liberty, and makes men debtors, and
slaves or prisoners, who need to be redeemed.
To qualify all those
that are effectually called to receive the promise of an eternal inheritance.
These are the great legacies that Messiyah last will and testament has
bequeathed to the truly characterized legatees.
