Parashas
This Torah Portion is the 22nd reading, begins
with the Word “Vayek’hel,” and Moses gathered. Moses often gathered the
Yisraelites together during their wilderness experience, but the word used to
describe this particular gathering indicates that something special was taking
place.
During the forty-nine days between leaving Egypt “Pesach,
Passover” and receiving the Torah at Mt. Sinai
“Shavuot, Pentecost,” the Children of
Yisrael made tremendous stride to strengthen their ability to receive the Light
of the Torah. They awakened love and unity among themselves. This desire for
unity was the catalyst for “bila hamavet
lanetzach,” the gift of immortality that was given to them before the
golden calf incident.
Without the Ten Luminous Emanation “commandments” it is impossible for us to connect to the Ultimate
level of “bila hamavet lanetzach” the
end of suffering in our lives and in the world. We must be one with every
living thing, even with the inanimate world as well, for unity is the true
revelation at Mt.
Sinai.
As one river flowed from the Garden of Eden, it divides
into four smaller rivers, the place where the river divide is the negative spot
on the river. There are only two side forces in this world: unity and
separation.
Ultimate unity is “bila
hamavet lamavet,” or immortality, ultimate separation is death. When Moses
gathered the Children of Yisrael in the Wilderness, he awakened and
strengthened their connection with the CREATOR and themselves. The gift of Sabbath
Vayek’hel is such an awakening.
The Sabbath of Vayek’hel also help to bring us the clarity
to realize that just because we help another person doesn’t mean we are unified
with that individual. When have to be careful not to delude ourselves into
thinking that just because we do good things for others, we are awaken love
between us and them.
We need to acknowledge the very real difference, and its
importance, for to the degree that we are separate from other belivers, we are
separated from the Creator.
The only way we can receive the awesome gift of unity on
this Sabbath of Vayak’hel is to work at it and to keep our eyes constantly on
the ultimate destination. Am I more open to the need of other today than I was yesterday?
Do I have more compassion for them this week than last week? Do I have more
long-suffering this month than I did last month? Such question keeps us focused
on our ultimate destination.
Unity is Mashiach, separation is Lucifer. The power of unity
is the greatest gift Moses and this Torah Portion is willing to give us on the Sabbath
of Vayak’hel, one, we make the necessary preparations.
Gathering as opposed to separation is the hallmark
of the Kingdom of the Heavens. Every gathering is a positive act as
opposed to separation is a negative act. When the Creators put Adam to
sleep they perform a negative by removing Eve from Adam side, that is
why when the Ultimate Negative one went to the Garden of Eden she spoke
only to Eve.
In this
Torah Portion Moses address the entire nation and charge or encourage them with
the privilege of building the Tabernacle, both Corporate and individual
according to the instructions given in the above chapters.
Much of
the following chapters in this Torah Portion is a repetition of the directives
of Parashas: Terumah, Tetzaveh, and apart of Ki Sisa, which have been explained
previously.
In this
Portion I will discuss only new
material. It is indicative of the greater significance of the Tabernacle that
most of the last three Torah Portions and almost all of Vayakhel and Pekudei
are devoted to it.
This
Portion describe the ability for the Hebrew people to create a setting for EL
YAHVEH יהוה presence to manifested it’s self here on Earth. It is a measure of
His greatness and, indeed, the Primary reason for the Creation of the world.
Its
future history would revolve around its worthiness to have the Temple in its midst. When
Yisrael was unfaithful to its trust, YAH’S PRESENCE would depart from the Temple, leaving it an
empty shell, much like when we sin the Holy Spirit will depart from us divorcing us of all inner holiness.
Once
that happened, destruction and national exile came quickly. The challenge of
the exile is for Yisrael to return to its former estate, and thereby bring
about the era of Messiyah, which they have miss.
The
Torah’s frequent repetition of the parts of the Tabernacle and mention of the
nations role in its construction indicates EL YAHVEH’S Love for His people
Yisrael, and His desire for us to enter into His fullness.
Similarly,
YAH’S respect for such loyalty is indicated by the attention the Torah lavishes
on Eliezer’s diligent search for a wife for Isaac, Genesis 24:42.
Exo 35:1 And Mosheh assembled all the congregation of
the children of Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, “These are the Things which יהוה has commanded you to do: - Moses ascended from the Mountain with the second Tablets, signifying EL
YAHVEH’S willingness to forgive and renewal. The Bride-to-be had confess her
unfaithfulness, and once again made herself clean, now they were worthy to
continue developing a relationship that would lead to consummation, if
faithfulness is established.
Moses convey his message to an
assembly of the entire nations, because everyone would have to share in the
construction, corporately and individually. There are categories of labor that were needed to build
the Tabernacle, that was forbidden on the Sabbath.
Exo 35:2 “Work is done for six days, but on the seventh day it shall be set-apart to
you, a Sabbath of rest to יהוה .
Anyone doing work on it is put to death. – The Torah teaches us that the primary productive labors in the
material world are precisely those that are needed to create an abode for
sanctity.
This command pertaining to the
Tabernacle introduced yet another condition to be observed. This addition
stipulate that despite the spiritual importance of the Tabernacle, it must not
be done on the Sabbath.
It is a good thing to be
preparing food for one husband, yet if he ask you for a date, do not tell him I
am too busy cooking your lunch.
Exo 35:3 “Do not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.” – The kindling of a fire is labor intensive, it is forbidden on the
seventh day Sabbath, but it is allowed on other Feast days. Some may say that
it is forbidden to prepared food on the Sabbath, but, to light a fire to keep
warm and comfortable on the Sabbath is acceptable.
Another very important point to
be derive from this command, is the fire of indignation. Do not cause anything
that will get someone angry on the Sabbath. I notice that almost every Friday
afternoon, that my wife and I got into problem. I have to remind her why do
you try to find some fault with what I do every Friday. When she caught her
self doing it she stop. The same action on any other day, would not be a
problem for her.
